Robert Kiyosaki famously created the cashflow quadrant where he explained going from employed to investor.

There’s a similar journey for Network Marketers going from User to Leader. Let’s discuss a little further.

Stage 1 - User

Being a product of the product is important. Having the certainty in the product or service you’re promoting will be the foundation to your success. Many success stories in our profession have come from people who started out using the product then decided to share with others.

Stage 2 - Promoter

Once you have a story to share you begin to promote the products, people, pay plan or the process. Many try to promote something without having a story to share and become a scripted robot with fear and self doubt.

Whenever I have a room of people and do an exercise to have them promote one of the above, many freeze as they don’t know what to say or even worse, don’t know what to do next.

Stage 3 - Builder

After promoting your story to others you start to build a team of people who have their own customer base. Now you need to develop the fundamental skills to teach the basics that others can repeat.

This is where people tend to overcomplicate things. Keep it simple, learn the basics, do the basics and repeat. You can become a six figure income earner at this stage.

Stage 4 - Leader

This level is reserved for a small percentage of people. We tend to overuse the word “leader” in our profession as it takes a long time to become a true leader.

At this stage you have a team of builders and they look to you for direction, motivation, education, recognition and inspiration. You’ll be inclined to complicate things, but remember there is power in simplicity.

The goal in your journey is to go through the stages as fast as possible and become a leader.

It’s not about hitting the top rank, but by becoming a top leader.
