If you’re reading this, you already know the importance of Consistency.

Consistency is not easy, though.

You’re bombarded endlessly from the second you wake up to when you go to bed with distractions that prevent you from being consistent.

It’s unrealistic to expect to stay focused every second of the day.

You WILL lose focus and get sidetracked, but you can still win the day by bouncing back quickly.

Here are 5 traps that destroy consistency.

#1: Feeling Defeated When You Get Off Track

Don’t be too hard on yourself.

Instead, learn to let things go.

Instead of thinking about how you messed up, focus on the very next thing you can do to get back on track.
If you focus on the negative, you’ll be stuck.

Instead, push that mental reset button, go back to your checklist, and take one small action step that’ll get you going in the right direction.

#2: Not Doing at Least One Thing Every Day

You must do some of the income producing activities or THE DMO (Daily Method of Operation) every day for your business.

The good news is you actually don’t need much time.

No matter how busy you are, you can always take one minute to do something for your business.’

These are what my friend, Rob Sperry, calls “Minimum Goals.”

It’s the minimum activity you do on a day that becomes hectic or seemingly out of control.

It can be as simple as copying and pasting one follow-up message or reaching out to five cold market strangers on social media.

Even on a day when you can’t complete your entire prospecting checklist, you can always send out one message.

If you don’t have much time, you don’t need to immediately reply back to every single message you receive.

You can always do that later or the next day, but getting the first message out is always the hardest but most important thing to do.

Lost days hurt you because you lose your self-identity.

Remember, it’s about how you see yourself and the person you’re becoming.

You always act according to your self-concept.

Doing nothing for an entire day also hurts your belief in yourself and your belief in your business.

#3: Missing Two Days in a Row

If you happen to screw up and miss an entire day of working on the checklist, let it go and just focus on working on the checklist the next day.

Forget about what just happened.

Instead, focus on what you can do to get back on track that very next day.

Never miss two days in a row.

One day is an exception, but two days becomes a rule.

Focus on doing the easiest thing on your checklist to get back on track.

#4: Bad Environments

We are our biggest enemy and a key part to success is learning how to conquer ourselves.

If life distractions (such as kids in the house) are making you go crazy, step outside for two minutes and send out one follow-up message.

Even if you don’t do anything for the rest of the day, you know you overcame yourself and were able to do something positive for your business.

#5: Negative People

If you’re struggling, the worst thing you can do is spend time with negative people.

Don’t deal with negative friends, poor prospects, those who discourage you, or people with no ambition.

Protect your mind and your self-esteem and instead listen to something positive and send out a message.

Sending just one message may not grow your business much, but it reinforces your confidence.

It proves that you can overcome yourself and that you’re not someone who can be easily defeated.

You may have lost the battle, but you won the war.

You did something and that’ll make you feel a lot better about yourself and productive the next day.
